The Living Culture Initiative

The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio
2005 – 2021

In 1870, The Ohio State University was founded as a public land-grant college for teaching "the agricultural, mechanical, and liberal arts." In 2005, Ann Hamilton, together with Michael Mercil, started The Living Culture Initiative—a loosely organized array of cross-campus partnerships integrating contemporary art practices into OSU’s core research framework. Since 2021, this mission continues off-campus through Living Culture Extension.
